LS Technologies, LLC President Tom Loftus selected as 2013 District of Columbia Small Business Person of the Year
Loftus was selected among a large pool of other DC small business owners for this notable achievement
Fairfax, VA [April 19, 2013] – The Small Business Association (SBA) has officially chosen LS Technologies, LLC President Tom Loftus as the 2013 District of Columbia Small Business Person of the Year. In a letter signed by the U.S. Small Business Administrator Karen G. Mills, it states, “Your hard work, innovative ideas, and dedication to your community have helped you succeed. The SBA is pleased to recognize your achievements and your role in driving our nation’s economic growth.” His selection for this outstanding achievement is based on the development and success of his small business, LS Technologies, LLC.
As a former FAA Program Manager, Mr. Loftus’s vision focused on the FAA engineering and telecommunications needs when starting LS Technologies in December 2000. A decade later, he has achieved significant growth and expanded the company’s areas of expertise to provide mission-critical services throughout the Federal market place. These include information technology support, acquisition support, program management, engineering, business and financial support, and information security.
The SBA makes Small Business Person of the Year awards at the district level (in multi-district states), the State level (from each of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam) and the National level. The criteria for selection includes staying power, growth in number of employees, increase in sales and/or unit volume, current and past financial performance, innovativeness of product or service offered, response to adversity, contributions to community-oriented projects, and markets served.
As the DC Small Business Person of the Year, Mr. Loftus is now nominated for the National Small Business Person of the Year honors, as the selection is based on winners at the state level. Since 1963, there have been celebrations of Small Business Week. This year is the 50th anniversary of National Small Business Week, which recognizes outstanding small business owners for their personal successes and contributions to our nation. Mr. Loftus is invited to attend the National Small Business Week celebration held in Washington, DC on June 21, 2013 at the Renaissance Hotel.
